A Stó:lō Womxn’s Movement
We are the system.
Standing in Our Power
Connection through community.
Thélá:ylexw awtxw Foundation—The House of Life Givers—is a non-profit organisation dedicated to amplifying the voices and supporting the leadership of our Stó:lō womxn.
Our aim is to connect with each other and our ancestors, to celebrate and uphold our traditional ways, and foster positive social change. Stó:lō womxn have long been the weavers of our Nation, keeping our social fabric strong.
The House of Life Givers creates opportunities to share in this responsibility together, and in so doing, create greater strength through community.
We are reclaiming our traditional ways to honour our Grandmothers, Mothers and Aunties.
As individuals we are strong, together we are stronger.
Created by Carrielynn Victor (xemontalot), of the Chi:yom First Nation, our logo honours Stó:lō womxn featuring a weaving comb—a traditional womxn’s tool. Our logo highlights the important place Stó:lō womxn hold in our community.
A Vision for Stó:lō Womxn
Xwelmexwelh Tó:lmel
Finding empowerment within each other and in ourselves.
We have a commitment to one another, to our ancestors, and to ourselves to come together and bring Stó:lō womxn back to the centre of our communities as Life Givers.
Listening to the self-identified needs of Sto:lo womxn, we offer opportunities to gather, to share stories and traditional skills, to heal and break cycles, and to uplift and support each other.
In community is how we are meant to live and thrive. Together is how we reclaim, revitalise and restore our heritage and our rightful place in upholding the rights of our people.
